Full Job Description – Software Development Team Lead

Location: Brighton, UK | Department: Development | Remote Option: Partial

About the Role:
Paxton is seeking a highly skilled software development team lead to join our Brighton office. In this role, you will oversee and mentor a talented software team, driving the design, development, and maintenance of high-quality software solutions across Paxton’s product portfolio. Your work will ensure technical excellence in user interfaces, back-end APIs, mobile applications, and cloud services.

As a team leader, you will champion module design, assess feasibility, and ensure successful implementation for both new and existing products. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify dependencies, mitigate risks, and propose effective solutions, all while maintaining strong communication with project and management teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead software design, development, and deployment across Paxton’s product range.
  • Mentor, support, and guide team members, sharing technical knowledge and updates.
  • Review requirements, specifications, and designs to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Drive innovation by pushing technical boundaries and recommending process improvements.
  • Investigate, diagnose, and resolve software defects efficiently.
  • Coordinate deployment of new builds and release candidates.
  • Implement effective testing strategies, including unit, integration, performance, stress, and automation testing.
  • Contribute to software architecture decisions and champion best practices.
  • Lead the code review process, providing timely feedback and resolution.
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in software development with expertise in test-driven and behavior-driven design methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of C#, .NET, Web API, and modern front-end and back-end technologies.
  • Deep understanding of software design patterns and SOLID principles.
  • Experience with Azure or equivalent cloud platforms.
  • Excellent leadership, mentoring, and communication skills; strong team collaboration.
