Role Purpose:
We have an exciting new opportunity at Cognia, where we’re supporting a major international technology company to bring on an experienced Senior Technology Counsel for a high-impact contract engagement.
The role is fully remote, full-time at 40 hours per week, and requires an immediate start.
The initial term is three months, with strong potential for a further three-month extension, offering a rare chance to step into a fast-paced global environment and make an immediate impact.
Role Responsbilities:
- Negotiate, draft, and manage a wide range of technology agreements, including software licensing, SaaS, PaaS/IaaS, hardware supply, technology development, and support and maintenance contracts.
- Attend negotiations when needed and highlight key legal and commercial risks in both upstream and downstream contexts.
- Review public tender and bid documentation, prepare bid responses and contractual deviations, and escalate legal recommendations to senior management.
- Prepare legal analysis, executive summaries, and risk assessments to support business decisions prior to contract signature.
- Provide clear, commercially grounded legal advice on business opportunities and strategic initiatives.
- Support contract management post-signature, including interpreting signed agreements, preparing amendments or change documentation, and advising on contractual obligations.
- Investigate and manage customer complaints and claims, including assessing merit and guiding settlement strategies.
- Provide practical, solutions-focused advice to internal stakeholders across the supported business unit.
Requirements
Experience Required:
- BCom Law, LLB, LLM, or equivalent legal qualification.
- 7–10 years’ PQE, ideally gained in a law firm or an international in-house legal team.
- Strong experience in technology contracting, including:
- Software licences
- SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS agreements
- Hardware supply contracts
- Technology development agreements
- Support and maintenance arrangements
