Job Summary
* 6 months on / 6-8 weeks off
* $1200 per month while working onboard, plus commission
* Must have experience working on a ship in the retail department
Under the guidance of the Sales Floor Leader, the Sales Associate plays a crucial role in driving sales within the Heinemann Americas Shipboard Stores. The primary focus of this position is to provide exceptional customer service, demonstrate a deep understanding of our product assortment, and consistently surprise and captivate our customers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding customer service to passengers, assisting them with shopping needs and inquiries.
- Actively engage with passengers, offering product knowledge, recommendations, and personalized assistance.
- Inform guests about special offers, new products, and promotions.
- Handle guests’ complaints and address queries promptly and professionally.
- Process payments accurately and efficiently, following charging protocols and procedures.
- Upsell and cross-sell merchandise to maximize sales and meet targets.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly sales goals.
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of retail spaces through regular tasks such as hovering, mopping, and dusting.
- Maintain attractive store layouts and displays according to instructions and visual merchandising guidelines.
- Ensure proper pricing of shop items as per guidelines and management instructions.
- Monitor stock levels and promptly replenish products.
- Regularly check product sell-by dates and follow the FIFO (First In, First Out) principle.
- Assist with stock control, including receiving and storing large stock quantities while prioritizing asset protection, conducting cycle counts, and participating in inventories.
- Report any stock, sales, customer satisfaction, professional relations, or other business-related issues or discrepancies promptly to the management team.
- Be prepared to multitask and take on additional duties, including cruise line policies and procedures related to brand standards, safety, and security.

Required Skills and Experience
- Previous retail sales experience, preferably in a fast-paced environment. Shipboard retail experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of travel retail products and inventory management techniques.
- Strong customer service, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and connect with passengers from diverse backgrounds.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills to maintain an orderly sales floor and inventory.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and independently with minimal supervision.
- Fluent in written and spoken English. Additional languages are preferred but not required.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift boxes weighing up to 50 lbs.
