Our client is is a fast-growing ad-tech firm with a strong presence across the digital advertising ecosystem. Their mission is to provide publishers and advertisers with the best media solutions and technology to drive revenue, performance, and brand growth.

They are seeking a Director of Ad Operations who combines technical expertise, analytical rigor, and leadership skills to elevate both our publisher-side operations. You are someone who thrives on building a team and processes, solving complex challenges, and driving measurable outcomes. You will lead operational excellence across integrations, yield optimization, ad tech compliance, and partner relationships while collaborating closely with Product, Sales, and Account Management.

This role requires an experienced operator who can both strategize and execute, with a passion for efficiency, optimization, and innovation

Responsibilities:

Publisher-Side Operations

  • Publisher Integrations: Become an expert in the client’s internal platform technology and guide the setup of websites for optimal programmatic performance. Develop processes and documentation to streamline publisher onboarding and troubleshooting.
  • Inventory Optimization: Design systems to continuously review, diagnose, and optimize underperforming sites. Proactively test new approaches to maximize revenue for clients.
  • Technical Expertise: Troubleshoot complex ad serving issues, create documentation for recurring problems, and collaborate with Product on scrapers, automation tools, and platform improvements. Serve as a technical resource for Sales and AM teams.
  • AdTech Fundamentals & Compliance: Ensure the client remains compliant with industry regulations (GDPR, CCPA, Core Web Vitals) and best practices (ads.txt, OpenRTB, IAB standards). Partner with Product to validate ad tech compliance for new features and releases.
  • Reporting: Become an authority on internal and SSP reporting systems. Diagnose discrepancies, streamline reporting processes, and use data-driven insights to guide optimization decisions.

Yield Optimization

  • Macro Projects: Test high-load, data-intensive strategies (e.g., PMP inventory optimization, SSP rev share analysis). Partner with Development to validate server-level enhancements (latency reduction, bid throttling). Present findings with clear data visualizations.
  • Micro Projects: Run experiments on site-level performance factors (e.g., ad placement, viewability). Define best practices and ensure scalable implementation across publishers.

Research & Development

  • Stay on top of industry innovations and tools that improve optimization, reporting, and revenue growth. Ensure client implements emerging best practices.

Partnerships & Relationships

  • Build and maintain relationships with SSPs and DSPs, identifying new opportunities to expand revenue and strengthen client’s market position.
  • Lead structured partner meetings, represent client’s capabilities, and enroll the company in emerging programs and technologies.
  • Research and vet external companies and partners that could enhance client’s platform and offering.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 6+ years of experience in ad operations with deep knowledge of programmatic ecosystem
  • 3+ years leading or managing a team in a publisher-side or hybrid ad ops environment
  • Demonstrated expertise in SSP/DSP integrations, yield optimization, and regulatory compliance
  • Advanced technical troubleshooting experience; ability to collaborate with Product and Development on automation and tooling
  • Strong analytical background; ability to derive insights from complex datasets and present findings with clarity
  • Familiarity with SQL, Python, or related technical skills for data processing and analysis
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and reporting platforms
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner cross-functionally with Sales, AMs, and external partners
