Job Summary
The Banking Relationship & Strategic Partnership Manager will be responsible for building, maintaining, and expanding relationships with banking institutions and financial partners to support the company’s operations including remittance business. This role requires a strong understanding of the financial services industry, cross-border payments, and regulatory compliance. The role involves ensuring compliance with financial regulations, optimizing banking services, and driving business growth through strategic partnerships. Strong background and relationships with multiple banks and an understanding of their product offering for cross-border payments is critical.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with local and international banks, financial institutions, and payment service providers.
- Understand the product offerings of various banks and strategize how best to utilize those for offering new and less expensive products to the Merchants
- Negotiate banking terms and conditions, including pricing, service-level agreements (SLAs), and transaction fees.
- Onboard new banking partners and ensure successful integration with internal systems.
- Monitor and manage bank account structures, liquidity requirements, and settlement processes across various corridors.
- Collaborate with compliance and legal teams to ensure all banking activities meet local and international regulatory standards.
- Coordinate with the treasury department to optimize fund flows and FX balancing.
- Provide strategic insights on new banking technologies, trends, and opportunities to improve remittance services.
- Identify new business opportunities and develop strategies to expand banking partnerships.
- Resolve banking-related issues and ensure seamless transaction processing.
- Prepare periodic performance for senior management on banking relationships and account performance.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related field.
- 10 years of experience in banking, financial services, or remittance/payment industries.
- In-depth knowledge of banking operations, cross-border payments, and correspondent banking.
- Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as AML/CFT, KYC, and international remittance regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with financial technology systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with fintech or money transfer organizations (MTOs) and banks.
- Familiarity with SWIFT, SEPA, and real-time payment networks.
