Job Description

A global digital transformation consultancy is looking for a detail-oriented and organised Accountant to support their growing finance team. This role is ideal for someone with strong accounting skills, accuracy, and a proactive mindset. You will assist with processing invoices, maintaining financial records, organising data, and supporting both routine monthly tasks and ad-hoc requests.

This is a full time remote role. The successful incumbent does however need to live in Cape Town or KZN, but will be working remotely. This role will begin as a 6-month contract to assess fit, with the possibility of extension for a further 12-months.

Responsibilities:

Data Entry

  • Accurately input financial data into accounting software
  • Ensure all records are kept up to date

Invoice Processing

  • Prepare, process, and file invoices
  • Ensure all invoices are approved and paid in a timely manner

Revenue Recognition

  • Prepare month-end journals for revenue recognition
  • Apply knowledge of deferred and accrued income

Financial Records

  • Maintain and organise financial documents and records
  • Ensure records are accessible for auditing and reporting purposes

Payment Processing

  • Prepare and reconcile payment files for approval
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of all information

Expense Reporting

  • Assist with employee expense claims
  • Verify documentation and ensure accurate exchange rate calculations

Support Audits

  • Provide documentation for internal and external audits
  • Assist the finance team during audit processes

Budgeting Support

  • Input data into budgeting workbooks
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of information

Software

  • Obtain software invoices from relevant platforms
  • Record and recognise costs appropriately

Utilisation of Staff

  • Export reports from project management software to analyse utilisation rates per project
  • Prepare utilisation journals to account for staff allocation per project

Allocation of Expenses

  • Ensure invoices and bills are accurately allocated to specific internal projects

UK VAT Returns

  • Assist with quarterly VAT returns
  • Ensure accurate processing of VAT and compliance with foreign transaction requirements

Administrative Support

  • Support the executive team with expense reports and data organisation
  • Provide ad-hoc administrative support as needed

Requirements

Education and Certifications:
Strong understanding of Accounting: A solid foundation in accounting principles and practices is essential
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, experience with multi currency transactions is advantageous.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Xero is required
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets is required
Soft Skills:
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and excellent attention to detail
Self Starter: Able to work independently, in a remote environment in a logical organised manner
Trustworthy: Responsible for handling significant client funds, and trust is imperative
Team Player: Looking for individuals to be part of a Core Services (Central team) that supports and enables a wider team grow and deliver impact at scale

Strong Communicator: The Core Services Team works remotely and supports multiple non-financial stakeholders in the organisation. This is best suited to someone that can simplify complex data and articulate insights

Excellent organisational abilities: They move fast, and want someone that is able to balance conflicting priorities
